The Basque Center on Cognition Brain and Language (BCBL) in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain) is looking for a RESEARCH ASSISTANT to join its team.

Information about the project

The candidate will actively participate in the development of studies that monitor the recovery of linguistic and cognitive abilities in the presence of brain damage such as stroke, brain tumor or epilepsy, with the goal to identify early and efficient biomarkers of impairment and recovery. 

Job description

We seek a highly motivated candidate with a background in Neuropsychology/Speech-Language Pathology/Psychology to join the Neurolinguistics and Aphasia and the Neurobiology of Language groups at BCBL. Their work will involve the linguistic/cognitive testing of patients with brain damage at Cruces University Hospital in Bilbao and their follow-up after hospital discharge. In addition, the selected candidate will be in charge of maintaining and updating the participants’ database.

  1. CANDIDATE PROFILE AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Required skills:

  • Degree in Psychology, and/or Speech-Language Pathology, Master in Neuropsychology
  • Native speaker of Spanish and Basque. Good command of English.
  • Ability and willingness to interact with elderly populations

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience in running computerized experimental tasks (e.g., using Matlab).
  •  It is also desirable that the candidate is based in Bilbao or surroundings, given the proximity to Cruces University Hospital in Barakaldo, where evaluations to patients will take place.

Salary: 9600€ gross per annum (part-time contract)
