Alberto Furgoni (born in Mantua, Italy in 1992) is a PhD candidate in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Universtiy of Basque Country carrying out his research at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain). He earned his BA degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2015. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in the Erasmus exchange program at the University of Cologne (Germany). Afterwards, he enrolled to the Master's programme in Applied Linguistics at the University of Bonn (Germany) which he completed in 2017. He developed his Master's thesis project during a three-month internship in the Psychology of Language Department of the Max Planck Institute of Psycholinguistics (Nijmegen, The Netherlands). The thesis was titled "The Influence of Frequency on Recognition Memory: A Study on Consolidation of Multiword Sequences".

Currently, he is working on a project investigating the role of orthography in auditory speech perception. The project is supported by a personal fellowship of "La Caixa" Foundation co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (EU Commission).
