Working together on this project are a network of renowned scientists
who combine the methods of developmental-educational psychology,
cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, genetics and information
technologies.
The general and specific aims of the project are:
- To understand developmental, behavioral, neural, genetic
and environmental constraints on mechanisms of learning.
- To
investigate the cognitive processes and neural correlates of attention,
self-regulation, visual word recognition and text comprehension.
- To identify the underlying causes of individual differences in these
processes, with special attention to immigrant populations in Spain.
- To provide guidelines for appropriate diagnosis and classification of
learning disorders (in particular ADHD and/or Dyslexia)
- To identify
methods for training attention, literacy and comprehension and to
specify the brain changes produced by these training methods.
- To develop instructional software and materials for training
attention, word reading and text comprehension skills.
